Position the Table of Contents
Place cursor where Table of Contents should appear
Invoke the Reference Tools Dialog Box
Click Tools | Reference | Table of Contents
Define the Table of Contents
On the Table of Contents Tab, click Define ...
Set the Number of Levels
5 is the maximum number; there is no downside to using it here. Other formatting options are available for the Table of Contents by using the controls here, but they aren't useful for this brief.
Dismiss this dialog
Click OK
Dismiss this Dialog
Click Close.
A marker will appear
This is a reminder to the writer that the Table of Contents will be generated in this space. When that happens, this notification text will be replaced by the Table of Contents.
